Responsibilities Provide legal counsel to defendants who cannot afford counsel, representing them as trial counsel during courtroom proceedings. Responsibilities include researching case law, communicating with defendants to develop trial strategy, managing cross‑examination procedures, witness selection, jury selection, testimony decisions, and crafting opening and closing arguments. Qualifications Law school graduate with admission to the Florida Bar or eligible to sit for the next Florida Bar exam. Preference given to members in good standing of the Florida Bar. Training & Development Membership and paid attendance in Florida Public Defender Association (FPDA) continuing‑education seminars with CLE credits.
